Run Jump Throw (RJT) is a FUNdamentals program that embraces Sport Canada's Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) pathway of track & field athletics and which teaches the technical skill progressions for athletic events for boys and girls. |
RJT focuses on the enhancement of physical fitness, health and physical development for children 6-12 years of age in Canada. As the skills of running, jumping and throwing form the basis of all land based sports, RJT is a foundation program that all youth can benefit from. The RJT program is an excellent opportunity for youth in school or recreation programs to enjoy activities that are designed to increase transferable physical skill abilities.
The program provides individual assessment for participants and is a terrific tool for physical education, special education or adaptive physical education programs. For youth training and competing through local recreation programs, RJT is a great after school or Saturday morning program in which parents and family members can participate as volunteer officials.
RJT is acknowledged as:
-
A 'foundation' program regarded highly by many leading international and Canadian sport scientists.
Promoting the ideas of health, nutrition and general wellness to children across the country, specifically recognizing the need in addressing social issues around childhood obesity, Type 2 Diabetes and substance/ drug abuse. - A program that advocates and reinforces recreational health and fitness as a tremendous approach in supporting healthy lifestyle choices.
- A program that develops positive self-esteem and opportunities for children to flourish.
