» Canadian Athletics Coaching Centre

The Canadian Athletics Coaching Centre is the lasting legacy of the 2001 World Championships in Athletics. The Centre delivers world class programs designed to foster excellence in coaches, develop high performance athletes, and encourage participation and physical fitness in Canadian youth.

The Coaching Centre is housed in the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation at the University of Alberta.

A Brief Introduction

The Canadian Athletics Coaching Centre was established in October 2003 and is a legacy of the 8th IAAF World Championships in Athletics hosted in Edmonton during the summer of 2001. The Centre recognizes the lineage to this truly spectacular event. It was founded in agreement with the government of Canada through a consultative process led by the Edmonton 2001 Legacy Foundation in partnership with the University of Alberta, Athletics Canada, and Athletics Alberta.

The original mandate recognized the need "to create a Canadian Centre dedicated to the participation and excellence in athletics through mentoring, training, education, competition and research for coaches and athletes at all levels of sport."

The Centre looks for opportunities to develop and deliver programs in conjunction with Athletics Canada and its provincial associations and it is through these partnerships the CACC strives to enhance the delivery of the sport across Canada.
