Alberta Athlete Development Program (AADP)
Through direct support and assistance by the Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks & Wildlife Foundation, Athletics Alberta is able to assist Alberta's top athletes with their future individual training and competition expenses by awarding funding based on individual accomplishments at the Provincial and National levels as well as those performances measured against Athletics Alberta standards.
The philosophy of the program is to fund the top athletes in the province. AADP is a stepping-stone to National Carding. It is hoped that athletes receiving this funding will participate in Athletics Alberta events, such as provincial championships and take part in Athletics Alberta programs, such as Canada Summer Games.

National Championships Funding
Through the financial assistance and support of the Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks and Wildlife Foundation, Athletics Alberta is able to annually fund various levels of athletes to various Canadian competitions. Athletics Alberta has always maintained the need to have representation at the various championships. The policy will not apply to events in which Athletics Alberta specifically selects a team prior to the event and the team competes representing "Athletics Alberta”.
This policy will outline how travel funds to athletes will be determined, and distributed, within the budget category, and the appropriate club category.

High Performance Funding
Within Athletics Alberta the aim of the program funding will be to allow high performance athletes in Alberta funding to access portions of the program. The best way to accomplish this is to provide financial assistance to athletes to attend the National training camps scheduled annually. Athletics Alberta provides funding support for athletes so that they can access supplemental funding to these camps via:
- Training with other HP athletes and HP coaches on a regular basis;
- Accessing optional training conditions which would include indoor & outdoor facilities;
- Accessing special training reeds to balance out the season (i.e. - warm weather camps);
- Accessing National Team programming such as National Training camps;
- Accessing High Performance competitions.

Equipment Grant
The purpose of the Athletics Alberta equipment fund is to assist registered ‘A’ clubs within the province of Alberta to upgrade current equipment and/or purchase new equipment for the delivery of programs. Athletics Alberta has allocated nine thousand and five hundred dollars ($9,500) to this fund for 2009-2010.
Registered ‘A’ Clubs in good standing who are interested in accessing this money are encouraged to complete the attached application and submit it by the deadline indicated. Clubs are encouraged to seek other funding sources (i.e. The Alberta Recreation Parks and Wildlife Foundation’s DIP Quarterly Grant Program) to secure matching dollars for equipment purchases.

Due to cutbacks to Athletics Alberta's core funding the Equipment Grant has been discontinued for the time being. For alternative funding resources please visit our main funding page. |
Master Coach Funding
The purpose of this funding category is for High Performance Coaches. There is a need to recognize, encourage and reward excellence. Therefore, the following policy is to distribute funds in a more equitable and meaningful manner to a larger number of coaches.
Each coach will then have the flexibility of using the money for their choice of development opportunities to best suit their needs. This policy will also provide the Association with an opportunity to recognize and show their appreciation to more coaches and will require a more simplified administration.
